LANSING — Lansing City Councilman Peter Spadafore announced Tuesday he is running for the open 4th Ward seat on the Lansing City Council in this year’s election.
Spadafore, who’s served as an at-large council member since 2018, announced last month he wasn’t running this year for another term as a citywide representative. His current term ends on Dec. 31.
“In the weeks since I announced I wasn’t running for a third term as an at-large Lansing City Council member, I’ve heard from neighbors from Colonial Village up to Delta River Drive and everywhere in between, asking me to continue serving our community,” Spadafore said. “The outpouring of community support has been flattering, humbling and inspiring. After a lot of thinking and plenty of conversations these past few weeks, I have decided to run for the open 4th Ward seat in this year’s election.”
“I’m ready to gain a fresh perspective on the City Council and take on new challenges,” Spadafore said.
“Lansing’s ward council members are the frontline problem-solvers for people in our neighborhoods, often serving as liaisons between residents and city government and helping cut red tape,” he said. “I’m running for the 4th Ward seat so I can work to address issues facing residents on a block-by-block level — critical issues like public safety, neighborhood development, repairing our roads and parks maintenance.”
