Solving Problems
I’m running for the open 4th Ward seat on the Lansing City Council in this year’s election so I can work to address issues facing residents on a block-by-block level — critical issues like public safety, neighborhood development, road repairs and parks maintenance.
For eight years, I’ve served residents in every corner of our city as an at-large Councilmember.
Now I’m ready to narrow my focus on our 4th Ward neighborhoods and provide residents on our side of town with positive, proactive representation.
I’m asking for your support and vote on Aug. 5 and Nov. 4 so I can continue serving the community we love and make a positive difference in the lives of 4th Ward seniors, children and families.
I hope to see you in the neighborhood soon!

Peter Spadafore has a long track record of making a difference in Lansing, bringing positive and
proactive change — block-by-block.
Peter is passionate about creating a brighter future for Lansing children, families and seniors. He’s put that passion to work for Lansing residents in a variety of roles, including throughout his two terms on the Lansing City Council, where he’s worked to improve city government services,
transparency and accountability.
Peter was first elected to the Lansing City Council in 2017 on a platform of building bridges and creating partnerships to help bring progress to Lansing. His City Council colleagues quickly recognized Peter as a leader and consensus builder, electing him vice president in just his second year and then president for two years. In was during this critical period that Peter helped navigate the city through the uncertainties of the COVID-19 pandemic, helping to get essential resources to residents in need while also keeping the city on solid financial footing despite the unprecedented economic challenges brought on by the pandemic.
Prior to serving on the Lansing City Council, Peter served on the Lansing School Board from 2012 through 2017. As school board president, Peter led the Lansing School District through a successful school bond issue in 2016, investing hundreds of millions of dollars in our local schools to help create safer, cleaner and more modern learning environments for Lansing kids. He also played a key role in the successful campaign to renew the school district’s 20-year millage renewal, securing about $18 million per year for Lansing students to help them learn, grow and thrive.
A Spartan for life, Peter is a graduate of James Madison College at Michigan State University, where he studied social relations and policy with an emphasis on education policy and
homeland security studies. In addition to his studies, Peter played saxophone in the famed Spartan Marching Band. He received the MSU Alumni Association’s “Distinguished Young
Alumni” award in 2015.
EXPERIENCE
ISSUES
Trusted Leadership
Peter Spadafore is running for the 4th Ward seat on the Lansing City Council to bring the trusted leadership we need to address critical neighborhood issues on a block-by-block level. That includes working closely with residents to strengthen public safety, build stronger neighborhoods and improve our roads, sidewalks and parks.
Public Safety
Peter believes every neighborhood should be a place where families can leave their homes, spend time outdoors and get to know their neighbors. As our 4 th Ward City Council member, Peter will work closely with our firefighters, police, EMS rescue workers and neighborhood leaders to improve public safety so we can keep our families, children and seniors safe.
Neighborhoods
Peter is committed to solving the block-by-block concerns of 4th Ward residents, such as fixing our roads and sidewalks, keeping our neighborhoods clean and maintaining our local parks. Lansing taxpayers expect and deserve to have the basics covered, and Peter will work with residents throughout the 4th Ward to ensure their everyday concerns are being addressed at City Hall.
Lansing's Future
Peter has dedicated his career to creating opportunities for children across Michigan so they can reach their full potential, and he will bring that same commitment as our 4th Ward Lansing City Council member. He supports investing in youth programs that give young people positive outlets and skills to contribute to Lansing’s future, and he believes elected officials should lead by example through open, honest, and transparent collaboration. No matter our circumstances or backgrounds, we share responsibility for building stronger neighborhoods, a more vibrant city, and a brighter future for the next generation of leaders.
