Meet Peter Spadafore

Peter Spadafore was elected to the Lansing School Board in November of 2011. Mr. Spadafore is a graduate of James Madison College at Michigan State University where he studied Social Relations and Policy with an emphasis on education policy and homeland security studies. He was also a fellow in the prestigious Michigan Political Leadership Program fellowship.

 

Mr. Spadafore works at the Michigan Association of School Boards. At MASB he serves as Assistant Director for Government Relations working with board members and state legislators across the state to help improve public education for every child in our state. He also serves on the Michigan Parent Teacher Association's Committee for Children Advocacy and as co-chair of the Save Our Students, Schools and State (SOS) coalition; A broad coalition of education supporters whose mission it is to "help students, schools and our state create a better future by mobilizing school communities to promote needed changes in how students are taught, and how schools and state services are funded and operate."

 

Dedicated to public service, Mr. Spadafore has worked with Ingham County chapters of the Relay for Life and AIDS walk Michigan, volunteered with the Ronald McDonald House of Lansing and the YMCA of Lansing. He currently serves as the President of the James Madison College Alumni Association Board of Directors.

 

As a lifelong resident of the Capital Region, Mr. Spadafore believes that the key to a successful Lansing is a successful Lansing School District where every child receives a top notch education to succeed in the 21st century economy. That success begins with good board leadership and a vision for the district.
